Oracle RAC - NETCA answers (listener CLSDB)
Oracle RAC Solution · Config document · referenced from Database software, listener and disk groups
noteThe header of my working notes calls this listener
opdb (TCP:1525). The name typed into NETCA was CLSDB. The port is the same in both places. The answers given to the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant (netca) to add one more listener to the cluster, named CLSDB, on TCP port 1525, for the database that is created afterwards.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Tool | netca |
| Started on | oradb01, as oracle, with an X server running on the workstation |
| Listener name | CLSDB |
| Protocol and port | TCP 1525 |
| Software version at the time | Oracle Database 11.2.0.4 |
The answers
# Screen / Field = value, in the order of the assistant's screens. Select the type of Oracle Net Services configuration / Cluster configuration = checked Choose the configuration you would like to do / Listener configuration = checked Select what you want to do / Add = checked Listener name / Listener name = CLSDB Selected Protocols / Selected Protocols = TCP TCP port selection / Use another port number = 1525 Would you like to configure another listener? / No = checked
| Answer | What it means |
|---|---|
| Cluster configuration | The listener is configured for the cluster and not for the local node only. The notes show no screen on which nodes were selected |
| Use another port number = 1525 | The notes give no reason for 1525; 1521 is the SCAN port given to the Grid Infrastructure installer |
The notes hold neither the resulting listener.ora nor any srvctl or lsnrctl output for this listener, so the file NETCA wrote and the state of the listener afterwards cannot be shown.

| As built | Today |
|---|---|
netca in graphical mode | NETCA still exists and also runs in silent mode with a response file (netca.rsp) |
| Clustered listener added through the assistant | srvctl add listener is the documented command-line way to add a listener to a cluster |
Nothing in this answer set is desupported. A response file or the srvctl command would have left something to show here in place of a list of clicks.
