Oracle RAC Solution · Config document · referenced from Backup Exec agent

noteThe passwords typed into the tool are placeholders here: <ORACLE_OS_PASSWORD> for the operating system account oracle and <DB_ADMIN_PASSWORD> for the database account sys.

The two dialogues of AgentConfig, the configuration tool of the Backup Exec Agent for Linux. The first gives the agent the operating system account for Oracle operations, the second the instance to protect, the database account for it and the Backup Exec server.

The notes say about the second run that it is the part that gives access to the Oracle RAC instances, and that the Oracle account sys therefore has to be used. The instance offered, clsopdb1, is the name in the corrected beoratab. The server is given by its name on the backup network.

The view after the first run shows two entries, DBAID and Machine. Only Machine carries the user name that was typed; the notes do not say what DBAID is.

Checked against Backup Exec 25.1

As builtToday
Menu 1, Configure database access, an account with local system credentialsSame menu; the guide asks for a user name that is in the group beoper
Default port, shown as 5633Port 5633 is still the default; a changed port must be changed on the Backup Exec server as well
Menu 2, the instance picked from a listThe guide has the instance name typed, in upper case
SYSDBA user sysFor databases before 12c the documented user for the RMAN connection is SYS with SYSDBA; from 12c on an account with the SYSBACKUP privilege is required
Run as rootFor a RAC of version 12c or later the guide says to switch to the Oracle user before running the tool
Only the first node recordedThe guide asks for the same set of credentials on all RAC nodes

Today's tool also asks for the path of an auxiliary instance, used for restores of pluggable databases.
